LEGOLAND: Opening Day 2015

Saturday was opening day for LEGOLAND! Woo Hoo!

We cycled with friends from our neighborhood to the park. The day started out with a bit of sun, and we were all enthusiastic about the first day in the park this year.

Almost there, but we took a quick break to climb on sculptures and hear from the kids how that this is the way they walk from school to the pool in P.E. class.

Moments later, we arrived at the park and locked up our bikes in the bike lot near the entrance. (Much closer than parking!) If you are visiting LEGOLAND, you might consider walking or cycling from your hotel or campground. Billund is quite flat – just cross your fingers there won’t be strong winds. I think going with local friends helped too. There wasn’t any whining on the way there, and only a tad on the ride home. Mostly because said wind was strong and cold.

We had a great afternoon, despite the cold. I couldn’t believe the number of people riding the rides you could get splashed on! Brrr. I can’t even imagine! We barely scratched the surface this trip. We mostly wanted to be a part of opening festivities and pick up our Season Passes. So, before heading home we needed to wait in line for our photos to be taken.

The boys did a good job of waiting. They got fairly bored and tired but held it together. We rewarded them with hot chocolate and coffee for ourselves. That helped warm us up in line and prepare for the bike ride home. The sun had long since hidden behind the clouds, making it feel much colder than when we had cycled over.

Eventually we got our passes and headed home to cozy up and prep to have friends for dinner. What a fun day!

LEGOLAND Information:

Should you be looking to visit LEGOLAND in Billund you can find a link HERE. Season Pass information HERE.

Did you know…

  • Dogs can enter LEGOLAND on a leash.
  • There are dog water bowls near restrooms in the park.
  • You can bring a picnic. We were amazed at what you can bring into the park. Yay!
  • There are loads of food choices. Should you not choose to picnic, there are themed food counters around the park, and a few sitdown places too.

We will work on adding tips and reviews as we become more familiar with the park and visit the food stands over time. I just love that you can pack a carafe of hot water or coffee to have a cuppa while hanging out at the park.
